An open-source AI content factory: what actually works
A popular post promoted ten open-source repositories for building an AI “content factory”. I checked all ten myself and kept only four that suit my readers. Here is what they do, what they need, and what they lack.
Repositories checked on GitHub on October 23, 2026: license, recent activity and README. Star counts are from that day. Details can change, so check the repository before you rely on it.
The four tools
| Tool | What it does | License | What you need | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Local Deep Research | In-depth research and reports from several sources and your documents | MIT | A local model (Ollama) or a cloud model | Check Arabic quality with your model |
| OpenCreator | Scripts, images, voiceover and video translation | Apache-2.0 | Codex setup: ChatGPT sign-in or an API key | Interface in Arabic with RTL support |
| FLUX.2 [klein] | Generate and edit images | Apache-2.0 for the 4B version only | About 8 GB of VRAM for the 4B version | 9B versions use a non-commercial license |
| ACE-Step 1.5 | Music from a text prompt | MIT | A GPU; the 2B version takes about 4.7 GB for weights | Lyrics in 50+ languages, check Arabic yourself |
What I left out, and why
- Kokoro: its README does not list Arabic among its languages, and the last update was over a year ago.
- Short Video Factory: AGPL-3.0 license, and a README mainly in Chinese.
- AI YouTube Shorts Generator: it promotes a paid API, and downloading YouTube videos raises rights questions.
- Social Media Agent: it schedules posts to X and LinkedIn. I recommend not automating posting on your account.
- Social Media Research Skills: it needs an API key from an outside service, and its cost is unclear to me.
- Podcastfy: it needs API keys, and I could not confirm Arabic support.
A suggested workflow
- Research: use Local Deep Research to gather sources, then open each source yourself.
- Write: write the text yourself and use a model only for the draft.
- Images: generate images with FLUX.2 [klein] 4B if your hardware allows.
- Music: background music with ACE-Step if you want it.
- Review and publish by hand: do not automate publishing.
Warnings
- Licenses: check each model's license before any commercial use.
- Facts: models can be wrong. Never publish a number you cannot source.
- Rules: read the rules of every platform you publish on.
- Hardware: local images and music usually need a GPU.
FAQ
Do I need a GPU?
For local images and music, usually yes. Research can run with cloud models instead.
Are they all free?
The tools are open source, but OpenCreator relies on Codex, which may need an account or an API key, and cloud models are billed by use.
Can I automate publishing?
The tools allow it technically, but I recommend review and manual publishing, since platform rules can penalise automation.
A new tool every day
I post a free AI tool on X every day, and all sources and paths live in the library.
